The majority of local and regional commercial radio stations are in group ownership, some groups focussing on one part of the country and others on particular formats while the two largest groups have a disparate range of services dotted across most of the UK. To demonstrate how rapidly the industry is changine the following list shows station ownership by groups as at the end of 2007. Changes of title or ownership shortly prior to that date are shown in brackets in blue. Changes of branding or ownership since 2007 are indicated in red.

We have not attempted to document the considerable increase in programme sharing, networking and co-location during this period. The list was compiled from published sources and Ofcom information but may inevitably contain unintentional inaccuracies from time to time, please inform us of any errors or omissions: managingradio@soundconcepts.ltd.uk
.
Of the 260 local stations listed in group ownership in 2007 more than 120 (some 46 per cent) have since changed branding or ownership, or closed down.
